FAQs

Do you come up with the mat ideas? Can I suggest one?

For the most part, every mat available for sale was at one point a personal commission for a client, that’s why some mats have very specific or even weird ideas, because it’s what the client wanted (say, the main Yugioh Frog monsters as Super Smash Bros. characters).

So if I have an idea for a mat I want to be made, what's the process?

You can contact me through the page email or my Facebook page (I’m able to reply faster on the latter), you then lay down the idea and we discuss it, I usually suggest something to make it cooler or more suited for a playmat format, and once we agree on the concept I give you a price for it and a date to start. I request half the payment upfront and the second half once I finish the illustration and you approve it, for this I send you regular updates throughout the process so that you’re happy with the direction I’m going. Then the mat is sent to printing and shipping.

How long does the process usually take?
The illustration part can take anything from a few days to a week, depending on the illustration details (more characters and a more realistic style do take longer than few characters in a cartoony style), then the printing and shipping process take another week or so for shipping within the US and Mexico and about 2 more weeks for international shipping (depending the country it’s being sent to).
What about shipping?
Shipping is $5 USD within the US and Mexico and takes about a week or so, for international shipping the costs goes from $15 to $35 USD, and about 2 weeks for the delivery (depending the country it’s being sent to).
How much does a commission usually cost?
From $150 to $800 USD depending on the illustration details (artstyle, number of characters, background, type of mat), this price includes the illustration job, the mat printing and shipping within the US. Most mat illustrations usually are within the $300 to $400 USD range, the higher end would be a really realistic style mat with a lot of characters.
I have an image I want to print on a mat, can I send it for you to print it?
If you already have an image, there’s many sites that offer the printing service, Midnite Dreams is for custom illustrations and only sales original artwork.
I like this mat you made for this Company/Team/Shop, can you sell me a copy?
Illustrations made for companies like ARG, Ophidian, or a team/Youtube Channel/Facebok Page are in almost every case exclusive for their sales/events, so I do not sell any of them here on the page. However most of those groups have them available for sale or if it was a mat for an event, most likely you can find someone selling their copy.
What type of mats do you have? And what's the difference between them? Which one is better?
At the moment there’s 4 type of mats available on the site, you can order a Regular Rubber Mat, which is like every other official mat from most TCGs, there’s the Stitched Border Rubber Mat which is just like the regular mat but the edges have a stitched finish on them to avoid fraying. Then there are the Single Player Cloth Mats, which are made of a specific fabric for comfy and smooth play, they’re really soft and a lot thinner than the rubber mats, these ones are printed full color unlike the famous Spellground mats, so the full illustration can be seen in bright colors. Finally there are the Two Player Cloth Mats, which are the same material as the single player ones, but as the name implies, are double sided for a two player experience, these mats allow for some cool stuff to be done with the illustration, like having oposing characters on each side, making a full zone layout, and so on. All four options are top quality, and I wouldn’t say one is better than the other, it really comes down to player preference, some prefer to play on conventional rubber mats, other prefer to have the stitched borders to make them last longer, others like the smooth feel of a cloth mat. It’s up to you and we’re happy to offer all these options!
I'm a Store or part of a Team and I would like to commission a mat for me to sell or for my team to use, can we get a special price on the illustration and the order of multiple mats?

Yes, if you’re interested in getting a mat for your team or you want a mat for a special event, or just for you to sell at your store, please send me a message and I’m sure we can work something out!

Where can I get those cute Winda Tokens?

We’re working on having them available for sale at the store, right now they’re only available as gifts to events I’m able to attend to. Stay tuned!
